Dark theme

• 1️⃣ dark theme >> a must for 2021 and a must for anyone that sits a lot in from of a screen

New features

• 1️⃣ automatic start specific notebooks (active project) >> start docker container when you open deepnote.com/project/notebook >> a config to set up a set of active projects (folders or notebooks) that when opened should auto start the docker container
• 1️⃣ restructured text (.rst) integration
• 1️⃣ poetry integration (conda?)
• 1️⃣ multi database integrations (example 2 PostgreSQL connections)
• 2️⃣ merge projects and move or copy folders/notebooks to other projects
• 2️⃣ markdown supper powers >> like github add the ability to click on [ ] and mark as done [x] or automatically add - [ ] on a new row
• 3️⃣ automatic git commit (similar to what https://forestry.io or https://gigantum.com are doing)
• 1️⃣ access from iOS using apps such as https://juno.sh/junoconnect/
• 3️⃣ easy access forum >> maybe switch to discourse >> access from phone to keep up with the community and find new ideas

UI Improvements

• 1️⃣ mobile responsive website
• 1️⃣ flexible left sidebar >> most of the times folders/notebooks have long titles
• 2️⃣ use the right sidebar more >> configurable user actions or quick links (to other apps such as database app >> supabase) >> dashboard and in order to work on a particular project (and to reproduce it) you need data other project specific apps and a quick link to them would be helpful >> example toast tabs and workona apps >> example a link to python doc website / github / kaggle / repl.it
• 1️⃣ global todo section (just like what sphinx .. todolist::)
• 1️⃣ using tab and Shift+Tab for lists instead of double space
• 2️⃣ autoformatting markdown and python linting
• 1️⃣ spellcheck
• 3️⃣ collapsible righ hand sidebar for a full screen presentation mode >> one click button to hide sidebars and code and present the data findings of the notebook

Self-hosted solution

• 1️⃣ self-hosted solution deepnote >> digitalocean >> 1 click-app solution similar to gigantum.com >> would place nice with self-hosted supabase >> this would allow to keep cost at £5/£10 etc per month for a single user (helfpul for freelancers on a budget or students just starting out)

Integrations

• 3️⃣ integration with https://www.kaggle.com/

Kaggle integration

• Integrations and collaboratior move table of conteon with Kaggle instead of competition
  • Kaggle >> social/ideas just like a blog
  • Deepnote >> private/team research workspaces
• Features from Kaggle that are most valuable >> open source ideas, data and community
  • Avoid spending time creating features that are already out there
  • Spend time on what would make Deepnote truly unique
