More powerful Deepnote Agent, enhanced project governance, new Runs page & more

End-to-end workflows with Deepnote Agent

Deepnote Agent now works as a single agent from your first instruction to the finished notebook, keeping the same context the whole way through. You'll see clearer progress indicators and the tool calls it makes as it goes, and prompt caching has improved, which can lower AI credit usage.

Auto AI is now part of Deepnote Agent

Auto AI has moved into the Agent sidebar. Open it from the new icon in the footer, or with Cmd + Shift + A, and ask the Agent to edit blocks or build new analyses from scratch.

Enhanced project governance

Private and shared projects can live in the same folder

Keep related work together, whether it’s just for you or shared with your team.

1-folder-private-projects.png
  • Keep private projects in place. Making a project private no longer moves it out of its folder. Each person only sees projects they have access to.
  • Reorganize without resharing. Moving a project to another folder keeps its existing sharing settings.
  • Delete folders without deleting someone else’s private work. Only projects you have permission to delete are removed. Other people’s private projects move to the workspace’s top level.
  • See what’s shared and with whom. The sharing icon shows who can access each project, while “Shared with me” lists only projects explicitly shared with you.

Set a default project permission per folder

Folder permissions callout-selection.png
  • Every new project in that folder is private until someone shares it, whether it's created in the UI, via API or MCP, or by import, duplicate, or template.
  • Existing projects keep their access.
  • Subfolders inherit the parent's default unless given their own.

Latest models, lower prices

All available models have been updated to their newest versions at a lower cost:

  • Luna 5.6 → Luna 6 (50% cheaper)
  • Sol 5.6 → Sol 6 (50% cheaper)
  • Sonnet 5 → Sonnet 5.5 (50% cheaper)
  • Opus 4.8 → Opus 5.5 (20% cheaper)

API & MCP updates

  • Project environments: Let agents choose or switch project environments, including private Docker images.
  • Machine control: Check machine status and start, stop, or restart machines directly.
  • Machine types: Choose compute per run or session, and adjust editor machines and idle shutdown.
  • Write files: Let agents add or overwrite project files, from helper modules to configs and CSVs.
  • Fetch a single block: Retrieve one block's data and output without loading the whole notebook.
  • Delete projects and notebooks: Let agents delete either, with recovery through Trash or project history.

VS Code extension update

The latest Deepnote VS Code extension makes opening a .deepnote file work out of the box, with less setup than before. It now supports uv and poetry alongside pip, and shows a clearer indicator while the Deepnote toolkit installs.

Two more additions:

  • Reuse integrations from other projects or notebook files in a couple of clicks.
  • SQL query chaining is now supported.

Plus a round of fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

See all your notebook runs in one place

All runs now live in a single place, ordered chronologically. Filter them by status, trigger, or member, and open the corresponding run snapshot in one click. To open the Runs page, find the Runs section at the bottom of your workspace and click 'See more'. Run snapshots now also show when they'll expire, both in the UI and the API.
